Who would you say are the best four English footballers that are playing in the Premier League? This is one of those typical questions that is often asked during a pub discussion with your friends on a Friday night. In this article I will be writing about “my top four”; I hope you enjoy the read.

The Premier League is without doubt the best league for drama, passion and excitement in Europe. When you compare this league with let’s say the Serie A in Italy it is just way more exciting; it is way faster and there is a lot more passion!

I am not a footballer myself and I am not involved within the media; the following players are just my personal opinion as to the players that I believe merit being in the top four. Returning back to my best four players; in top spot I would have to have the main man himself; the one and only Steven Gerrard. He is a top class football player. Some would argue that he has never really “done it” for England however I am sure he will put that right in next years World Cup. Steven has been the driving force behind the Liverpool team for the last few seasons and has proven to be an inspiration to his fellow team mates and supporters alike.

In second spot I would have to pick John Terry. He is very much a team player, a great motivator and he leads by example; a real champion. As well as being a dominant central defender who is an excellent reader of the game he also chips in with a few goals.

In third place I have Frank Lampard. This midfield dynamo just seems to get better and better. He is the model professional who like Steven Gerrard scores a great number of goals from midfield. I personally would play Frank in the centre of midfield for England with Gerrard “in the hole”, real football fans will understand what I mean by this.

In fourth place I have Ashley Cole. I really do not want to pick Ashley as he annoys the hell out of me with his petulant behaviour. He is however an excellent player and his FA Cup final performance in the win against Everton (for Chelsea) was quite outstanding.

Well there we have it - my top four - what do you think?

If you can tolerate some very inclement weather you will experience some of the most spectacular spring crappie fishing.

After ice out it is time to go out and start your spring crappie fishing. After ice out, the crappie are still holding in deep water but will start their move into holding areas close to their spawning beds. The big crappie will be hungry and will be there feeding in Ernest. The water will be very coldYou will want to move your bait very slowly through the water. The trick is being able to locate the fish, there are some fundamentals you need to be aware of to find the big slab pre-spawn spring crappie. Oh you won’t have to be out on the lake at first light either. The best time to go early spring crappie fishing is in the afternoon because the sun has had time to warm the water a bit and the crappie feed on the moving bait fish more in the afternoon.

Start your spring crappie fishing trip at the location where the ice fisherman were last catching crappie. If you don’t ice fish contact some ice fisherman and find out their last fishing locations. The fish will be holding at these locations right after ice out. If your lake is shallow, head to the deeper boat channels around your lake, the fish will be locate here. When fishing In cold water I prefer ultra light equipment. You will find that in cold water spring crappie will bite very light. Use a very light test line around 2 to 4lb test, with a open face rod and reel combo that has a graphite rod with a sensitive tip. If you are breaking line and snagging a lot move to 4lb fluorocarbon.. I recommend you use 1/32oz or 1/16oz jig heads that have eyes painted on them. The color of the jig head can very, but my preference is chartreuse or pink. with split tail plastic tubes. with some glitter color. My preference is to use clear color tubes with some glitter color in them for clear water. In murky water use white or yellow. If the water is real muddy use chartreuse.

Anyone who has used binoculars realizes that a steady hand is crucial to see a distant object, and with the rangefinder a steady hand is even more important. Yes, I find it gets a bit more tricky to hit the flag from about 220 and beyond, but I’ve found tricks to get better at that and you will too. Plus, if I’m over 200, I just make sure that I have some clue where I am as a sanity check. If Bushnell figures out how to incorporate optical image stabalization into these units, that’ll make them even better. But for now this is just fine.

Some people wonder if having to look through the binoculars as opposed to looking down at a GPS unit is a disadvantage. For me it’s a non-issue in part because the LRF locks on target so quickly.
